Alright, we’ve survived the offseason and I’m ready to get some polling and picking going. It’s my goal to consolidate both the pick 'em and weekly poll into a single post where I’ll share the results of the previous pick em as well as links for the upcoming poll and pick em. I hope to get this up every Sunday and I am going to aim to get the poll results up every Thursday as I had been. As always new ideas or suggestions for changes are welcome. Speaking of which, I made a new model! I wanted to see if I could make a halfway decent model using only wins and losses. No points, no stats, no historical data. Just which teams did you play, what is their record, and did you win?
Introducing the Cross-network Recursive Earned-record Equity Propagation Ratings or CREEPR for short. Basically, a team “earns” the win or loss side of each opponent’s record depending on the result of that game. The total “earned record” becomes the team’s new record and the process repeats a bunch of times until the results converge. If there’s interest, I can explain the method in more detail in another thread/post.
After my first two picks lost, I assumed I’m an idiot and stopped paying attention. I’m stunned I swept the remaining five.
