The San Antonio Spurs are shutting Victor Wembanyama down for the remainder of Summer League, sources told ESPN.
- No surprise here - he kicked ass against the Blazers even if it ended in a loss. Better to protect the kid and encourage him to bulk up where he can and save him for the regular season.
- I think most high level players only play 1-2 games in summer league anyway, so this isn’t surprising to me at all - To be fair, I’m surprised he played at all. There’s nothing to gain from this and it only risks injury. - These aren’t the players or the system that he’s going to be using during the regular season. - If he’s your guy, he’s your guy. He has nothing to prove at this level.

- Glad he had a great game before being forced out. - Wouldn’t be surprised if they were sitting him out BECAUSE he had a good game. They saw the reactions of the other game and decided not to risk any more bad press. - I dont think Pop gives a shit about NBA press.

- He is going to be packing arenas all year if he stays healthy. That 2nd game got the Wemby hype train off and running.
