BSD is interesting. So it’s always worth giving it a try. It certainly won’t be as comfortable or convenient as Linux though. So exploring it on a side machine (or a secondary partition) is probably better.


People really ought to stop with that, I’ve used nVidia for literally decades on my desktop with a variety of machines with Linux with little to no issues. And that’s been with distributions that were considerably less polished than what’s available today.
OTOH, I’ve had a number of issues (mostly patched now) with my Radeon RX 9070 XT.
The fact that you have to enable a separate repository or tick a box during installation isn’t a “big hurdle”.
I ended up getting a USB c cable tester to see which cable could do what because it was such a mess.
