Can’t go wrong with WoT. Doing a listen at the moment, on book 14a.
And for people who sometimes need to feel really sad.
Came to rec RotE myself, it’s a series I wish I could read again for the first time more than any other. I’m doing a listen of WoT with a friend, and I’m going to convince him hey, you did 14* books, why not do it again, but a lot sadder.
Additional love for first law. Actually modeling a DND character after Logan for the next campaign. Finishing up the expanse myself, but wanted to go back to Joe Abercrombie after, just loved his style.

Apparently not because it happened twice!!!

I was banned recently, my second ban (in 15 years), for saying that I wouldn’t mind if Iran wiped Staten Island off the map. I’m not sure I need to include context, Staten Island is terrible.
My previous ban, probably a year ago, was because I said it should be okay to crash your car into people with obnoxious mods (bright lights, pop tunes, etc.).
Both bans were for calling for violence, which maybe the first ban you could argue was, but the second one definitely wasn’t. And so the part that bothers me most, and the point of the story, is that they offer a route to dispute your ban, which I did, and never hear anything back either way. I want my due process.

And just for clarity’s sake, I have contracts with local governments, and in the process of initially getting and subsequently renewing them, I fill out a bunch of forms about whether or not I have relationships (paraphrasing) with numerous countries, Iran, Belarus, Russia. Oddly enough, no China.
This being said, I don’t know for sure, but I’m curious if not only was it a lie by omission, but she knowingly submitted false statements via these forms or similar.

Some of the smartest people I know have massive gaps in their intellect. I like to say I know a lot about a little but a little about a lot. Some people know a lot about a lot, but nothing about a little, and it shows.

It’s that little bit of vanilla crunchy. Didn’t think you could improve on the Reese, but I’d eat a couple for sure.

Must suck to have the burden of such a complex palate that you can’t enjoy things.

Costco makes these 24-packs of chocolate chip cookies that I straight up have to avoid, because I lack the self-control to not eat like three or four at a clip, and when they’re 200 to calories each, it’s not good.
And I’m not fat, but I work hard to not be fat, and those cookies can undo an hour plus of real hard work in like five minutes. I love them, but I just can’t have them in my house anymore.

I’ve had the mini Oreo Reese’s cups and they’re phenomenal, I could easily house a bag and hate myself. I happen to like both Reese’s and Oreos though, probably up at the top of my guilty pleasure foods.

Yeah, that’s really overthinking things. I host my movies and shows, I watch them from wherever. I feel like I’m not going to spend more time analyzing it, because my usage of the app is literally finding my movie and watching it, or putting it on for my kids. If my junk email gets more junk emails, so be it. I personally lost the privacy battle a million years ago, although I guess I do my best by not having Facebook or Instagram or anything of that ilk. I do exist, and so I’m fucked anyway, but I’m not going to spend energy that somehow doesn’t get me a meaningful return on that energy spent.

Yeah, my job involves grammaticizing (my word) the spoken word, and I need to sometimes remind myself that just because a person speaks the comma, it doesn’t mean there is a comma. It’s definitely easy to want to vibe (to use the vernacular) commas places, though.

We need leaders (aka politicians) on our side we can rally behind, but they are few and far between. And I hate the reliance on politicians, but that is what their platform is built for. The best I can do is vote and hope for a progressive who isn’t afraid to make hard decisions, but I know the best I get is someone moderate who will just accept the shit.

Yeah, this is it. When they ask me for more money, or when they demand I host on their servers, I will adios. Until then, I paid $75 one time and the service does exactly what I want it to do, and it’s ezpz for a basic individual myself.
I think the most likely scenario is the company goes under because they didn’t have enough money, and then folks will come here and complain about that. Maybe I’ll be one of them, but I’ll try to remember I paid $75 more than 10 years ago, and so I think I’ve more than gotten my money’s worth.

I agree with what you’re saying but your commas are literally killing me.
It wasn’t always like that, and they also only got you so far, and mainly sped up the process.
I mean, I use one evaporator to condition the air on the first floor of my home. I get what you’re saying, but a one bedroom apartment could be served by two PTACs.
Perhaps I’ve lost the thread of this conversation though.
