Same. On PC I use a web browser, but it’s so much slower and less polished than Voyager.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Would you want to live in a country other than your own? If so, where and why?
11·5 days agoHypothetically, yes, very much. I feel like I’d fit in much better culturally somewhere like Finland, or generally the more peaceful European countries. But as soon as I even begin to think about actually doing it… No way in hell.
My family is here. All my friends are here. I’ve also got my mental health support system here and stuff like that, that would be incredibly hard to rebuild somewhere else.
There’s also the obvious language barrier, which I think for me personally would be insurmountable.
There’s a lot to dislike and hate about my home country of Israel. The weather is too hot and never changing in the summers. A large portion of the population is detestable in culture (and don’t even get me started on politics). Public transportation is a bad joke. But despite all that… It’s the best home I’ve got. Best thing to do is stay and try to make it better.
If everyone runs away whenever a place starts going to shit, it just goes to shit even faster. The non-shitty places will eventually run out.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a shortcut in a daily routine that you discovered embarrassingly late.
161·5 days agoHalf of people wipe from the front while sitting. The other half stand up and wipe from behind. Most people in either group never find out that the other half exists.
I wanted to share a relevant QI clip for this (it was brought up by a guest, not the host) but couldn’t find it.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How can one individual get Nestle, Amazon, Google, Apple, Disney, and Blackrock to go out of business?

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How can one individual get Nestle, Amazon, Google, Apple, Disney, and Blackrock to go out of business?
1·7 days agoRight but I still don’t think it’d drive those specific companies out of business. They’re all damn good at profiting off of a worldwide catastrophe.

4·7 days agoThat’s the worst idea yet. As we’ve seen with covid, the streaming providers only get stronger under those circumstances.

5·8 days agoNever heard that word before. Wikipedia: “Mereology is the philosophical study of part-whole relationships.” Fascinating that there’s a name for that!

4·8 days agoI considered it. Should I cross-post?
I do strongly think that “mildly interesting” is the most accurate category for this

Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•My glass broke, but the handle is keeping these two pieces together
12·8 days agoYes, I had to fight my own pedantry to post that phrasing! It’s one piece, but calling it two pieces connected by a handle is the only way I could think of to describe it and actually be understood. I challenge you to come up with a title for this which is both easy to understand and topologically accurate.

Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•Playing loud music on the bus? That will cost you hundreds of dollars in Singapore
1·8 days agoI hope Singapore has actual enforcement of these fines. In my area there’s supposedly a fine if someone doesn’t pick up their dog’s excrement, but I don’t think it’s ever been enforced.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•In the US can a felon own a gun if it is dismantled and hanging like a piece of art?
2·10 days agoIf you’re genuinely considering doing this (or someone you know), you should probably ask a lawyer. Or at least ask in a law-oriented message board. There are probably also lawery websites where you can ask questions and they (eventually, if they feel like it) answer them publicly. But either way, even if the law decidedly allows it, it can still cause loads of headaches because if an officer mistakenly believes it’s illegal they can still take you in and/or confiscate it, and it can take you a while to prove that it’s actually allowed. Take this risk into account. If you still think it’s cool enough to justify that risk, I say go ahead.
If this is more of a curiosity or a thought experiment type question, then knock yourself out and ignore my party pooping!

Honestly it’s a good idea IMO. The thing is, if it becomes common wisdom that edited comments signal credibility, then spambot makers that want them to look human can easily program them to do that and take advantage of that common wisdom. At that point it wouldn’t be a useful signal anymore. That’s the nature of a cat and mouse game like this.
But for the time being? It sounds like a reasonable heuristic to me. But just like everything in this area, no single thing is 100%.
