Most people don’t truly want the far right agenda. However, the right controls almost all of the media. The biggest master play of the right was realizing early that shit like Facebook had a lot of potential for propaganda. While the biggest fuck up of the left all over the world was not banning foreign-owned and controlled social media before it became too big to just block it. China did the obvious correct thing: don’t allow foreign powers to control the media in your country. Since then, we have been fighting a losing war.

Your memory is limited, things that are not essential will get thrown away. Books you’ve read as a child are core memories, things that shaped you up to be who you are today. Something you’ve read as entertainment/habit the last few months is just not as important. The plot? Yes, important, so your brain keeps it. Names? Nah, that can be forgotten most of the time. It’s a “perk” of being a biological entity of blood and flesh, with a brain that works in mysterious ways, but can somehow store huge amounts of information.

There’s a somewhat blurry line between freedom and responsibility, but allowing for the exploitation of your fellow humans is clearly not a freedom we need. They don’t change… I had the same problem some 5 years ago. There was an ad for olive oil using the logo of a famous supermarket around here, and a fairly similar website to the supermarket one. I reported that ad 5 times, got the same “this ad does not violate Google’s policies” response each time. Until my mother clicked on it and was scammed out of her money.

I came to the conclusion that the only solution was to be done with google, I started using nextDNS in my entire network, changed all standard search for duckduckgo, and installed ad block all over.

Same happens here in Brazil. Yeah, I just open up Lithium and read on my phone. The only downside is to have to cram Brightness in case I’m out during the sun, but the advantage is that I always have my phone with me, and I can read everywhere. It’s a simple consequence of the short term politics of the West, when every politician is gunning for the next election in 4 years, there’s no room to care for a project that might take 10 or more years to complete, as that will just become someone else’s merit down the line. On top of that, current late stage capitalism works under the necessity of perpetual growth numbers, the line must go up today, regardless of tomorrow’s problem. CEOs and top directors are all short sighted, as the market screams for immediate and fast results, the top brass is forced to use the one strategy that works short term: cutting costs. Which works, but will inevitably cause a collapse in the future. The western world can’t plan beyond the next couple of years, while China, due to its State Planned Capitalistic System, is thinking 10, 20 years into the future. 20 years ago they had already set their sights on a future in the 2050s. The Western Empires have reached the final stage of an empire, where internal corruption is rampant, people see only the bleak future ahead, national pride is dying, and far right politics are rising through a “blame the other” for our downfall strategy.

Congress is majority far right. People think the President is a King, he is not. Lulas’s party in Brazil is responsible for lifting millions from extreme poverty, twice, because the far right managed to shove millions back in the short 6 years of their government. Brazil is a country built on top of inequality, slavery ended here much later, and it was far more rampant. On top of slavery, the colonial oligarchs here have taken firm hold of the country for centuries, and are holding tight, unwilling to let it go. The 2016 coup was entirely a project by such Oligarchs to return Brazil to its state of colony, but now of the USA. If it wasn’t Lula’s party, Brazil today would be in the same state as Argentina.

As far as my research came up, only CS6 works, however all my stuff was made with 2020+ editions, so it would break my projects. It seems VivaDesigner is the way, but it’s paid only… And I never paid for adobe lol

However, it seems that Scribus can now read indesign markup files, I would just have to export all my projects in that format and test first.

I want so badly to switch to Linux on my main machine, but I have some projects of my on Adobe InDesign, anyone has an actual good alternative that can read InDesign files?
