I am in the same boat. So many things that need to be done, but I just can’t ever figure out where to start. I always worked better when there was someone there to body double with me.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Agree or disagree? A lie by omission is still a lie.English
72·4 days agoAre you sure you’re not really asking if lying is good or bad? To me that’s an important distinction that should be addressed.
My kids used to believe in Santa and the Tooth Fairy. I perpetuated those lies because it was fun for everyone, and the boys enjoyed it. Now they’re older and know better, and they understand both sides. They were not hurt or upset.
But if I know my friend’s wife is cheating on him, and I don’t say anything to him, then obviously that’s bad and my friend would be devastated even more to find out I withheld such important information.
We often conflate “not telling lies” with “all lies are bad”, and that’s not always true.
Let’s give credit where credit is due: this one is a W for you.
In my personal experience, I find knocking out small tasks (like folding laundry, putting laundry away — yes they are two tasks) is a great way to build up momentum for bigger things, but not always. And that’s okay. My goal every day is to do at least one thing. Just one. If I do more than one then I have exceeded expectations. Keep pushing! 👊
Jesus. The strength that woman posses for being able to stand up and keep moving forward in the face of all of those (stupid) obstacles. I hope she is able to overcome and prosper. 👊
Thank you!
What is the bottom right one in the second panel?
~Also, is it me or are those specific ones telling a story?~

The thing is, we’re not talking about the ____ group. We’re talking about those obnoxious Christians who are ruining it for everyone. If that doesn’t include you, nice. But that doesn’t change anything about that overly vocal minority.
I kind of wish the rapture would go ahead and happen. Us sinners would be much better off in the long run.

8·13 days agoIt’s suggesting that Vader’s mask caused him to mistake Luke as his son, which would be funny because of the whole plot revolving around Luke being Vader’s kid (and Luke being Leia’s brother — which is even funnier due to the sexual chemistry the two characters originally shared).
TL;DR don’t read too much into it. It’s only a joke.
One can hope! In the meantime, they’re happy to teach this old dog new tricks and that’s a start.
According to my elementary /middle school-aged kids, it seems they are in fact learning the metric system in school. And this is in a red state in the south. 🤷♂️
