They literally have manufacturing facilities in the US as well due to the IBM acquisition. This article seems to gloss over the reality of them being globally diverse for a while.

This is actually not the first year it’s been demoed. Last year it was just a proof of concept. It will take time to work the bugs out.
I grew up backpacking those woods. December is dangerous even for experienced outdoorsmen. I’m going to guess they were not dressed appropriately, and didn’t have any means of navigation outside of cell phones. There is zero cell service in the area. It’s very easy to get turned around even with navigation there.
Be prepared and know what you’re getting into before you go off the grid folks.

I agree with your sentiment… But . world isn’t located in the US. I understand why mods wouldn’t want to get tangled up in our mess and bring home a whole heap of trouble to their doorstep for being nothing but gracious hosts.
