This just reminded me of a funny story about a North Korean refuge who had escaped to South Korea. She was trying to figure out how buses worked and would stare at people getting on the bus to figure out how they paid.

She said that she noticed everyone would just kind of bump there butt on a sensor when they got on. Not knowing that something like contactless payment existed, she assumed that it must have just been some weird cultural thing that she didn’t fully understand.

So she worked up the courage to board a bus and just bumped her butt against the sensor. Obviously it didn’t do anything and the bus driver must have thought she was crazy.

Just say he was sleeping. I get they do it to avoid libel lawsuits. But fuck it. It’s USA Today. Make him sue you and take you to court.

She calls it "Oh Shit I Have to Pay?” because that’s the step that most people completely tune out. They’ll put their items down, wait for the cashier to scan them, get everything bagged and then when the cashier says “that’ll be XXX” people just snap out of it like they’re dreaming and then fumble around to find their card. Like the step was completely unexpected. “Oh shit, I have to pay for all this?!”

A friend of mine made a game of this. At the grocery store, she labels people with “Oh Shit I Have To Pay?” Syndrome.

Her and her daughter text each other every time they encounter a person who somehow arrives at a cashier completely unprepared, who somehow managed to stand in line for several minutes and didn’t realize that they had to actually do something when they reached the front of the line.

I mentioned this in another comment below about Citizen Kane, but a big reason these hugely known “great” movies don’t standup today is explained in the TV Tropes page about why Seinfeld is Unfunny - basically that so many pieces of art were so revolutionary at the time, they they have been endless copied and reiterated over and over, so that modern audiences seeing the original piece of art don’t see it as anything special.

2001 A Space Odyssey was specially called out as an example:

• One would be hard-pressed to find a scene from any Stanley Kubrick film that hasn’t been parodied/homaged to death.

• The famous “Star Gate” sequence, in which brilliant colors flash past the screen as the main character travels deep into space, required some extremely tricky cinematography and caused jaws to drop when the film was released in 1968. Thanks to the incredible advances in special effects since then, modern audiences often find the scene ordinary.

TLDW; billionaire Michael Bloomberg is behind multiple laws in mostly blue states to require spyware be added to all 3D printers under the banner of “gun control”.

He’s attempted to hide this as a grassroots effort, when in reality it’s nearly completely funded by him and his organizations. There’s a call to action to contact your representatives if that legislation is being proposed in your state and voice your opposition to letting billionaires control what you can and cannot 3d print.
