That was the point - that is, that’s why the cop didn’t just walk away. He knew he was wrong, but she embarrassed him. He knew that he could just force the issue right up to the last minute, and there would be no consequences for him. Major hassle and inconvenience for her, but he still gets paid and there’s almost certainly no negative repercussions for him.
He was deliberately making life more difficult for her, because his feelings were hurt. It wasn’t out of ignorance, it was out of childish malice.

My internal conspiracy theory is that McDonald’s deliberately chose the boring, gray and block redesign for nearly every location now BECAUSE it’s less inviting.
They don’t want people to eat in, or even stop by to go to the drive thru. What they want is to push the fast food market towards delivery, because the profit margins are so much better. They can’t just close dining rooms and drive thrus entirely, because that would scare consumers and drive down stock prices. So instead they’re using boring shades of gray and hostile design to make people not WANT to go to McDonald’s, and instead just order it through DD.

I use several tools depending on context (keepass for work accounts, a custom hosted solution for everything else). But I also have a system for my passwords that allows me to figure out what it should be in case I forget. Most of my passwords follow a specific pattern that incorporates the platform and a series of characters.
This specific implementation is now out of date, as it’s not really necessary (or at least it shouldn’t be) to have all the special characters; length should be the critical property of a secure password, but unfortunately many, many sites still require a mix of upper/lower/numbers/special chars. Regardless, it should still be simple to come up with a way for you to know your passwords, without them all being the same.
