You jest, but Fedora’s probably one of the worst distros you could use an old version of. They’re practically a rolling release with how short the support window for each version is. Plus, they have a very “march of progress” mentality compared to something like Debian.
The biggest problem with Haiku is that it has practically no security. It runs everything as root, it doesn’t have user accounts, and the only password it supports is for a screensaver screen locker. I think it has potential, but its security model is completely unacceptable for an online OS in 2026.

N64 controllers with this layout always annoy me, because you can’t use them to play Goldeneye or Perfect Dark with the d-pad under your left thumb, and the analog stick under your right thumb. 1.2 Solitaire layout with the left grip on a standard controller is my preferred way to play these games.

The whole dual control panels thing in recent versions of Windows has always annoyed me.
why does it need to accommodate compatibility for archaic devices/software?
Because that’s one of Windows’ selling points. It has unusually good backwards compatibility for a mainstream operating system. Compare that to iOS, Android, MacOS, or Linux, where the infrastructure needed to run older binaries often doesn’t exist in the first place.
Linux is a weird case, because thanks to Wine, it actually runs a lot of old games better than Windows, but this doesn’t do anything to help compatibility with older Linux binaries.
I watched a video about those the other day. You can’t just slap Windows or whatever on one; you have to use Linux with a specific patched kernel in order to use them. Even then, there are severe graphical issues with Unity games, and you’re not getting the full performance of a PS5 since these APUs are cut down to a degree.

There are these shallow “U”-shaped indentations on the spindle. You can clearly see one on the left-hand side of the photo, but there’s also one in the upper right.
If you turn the spindle so that one of those indentations faces the screw, you should be able to remove the screw.
