We can have more than one problem. But the 2 party system makes it easier for the parties to suck because there’s no real competition. You can have GOP or GOP-lite. Governments with more parties have measurably healthier democracies.

This feels like an oversimplification – let’s not forget that billionaires have poured untold sums of money into funding right-wing propaganda…and that virtually every major platform is owned and operated by billionaires with right-wing agendas.
Not only did Elon Musk spend billions on Twitter to make sure only voices he like get platformed, but Youtube has a well documented history of pushing more and more radical right-wing content to users, and Donald Trump just made sure that the one online place where left-wing voices were able to dominate (TikTok) was forced to be sold to his buddy, Larry Ellison.

Y’all are right that 40% is insanely low, but remember that there is a massive propaganda machine, coupled with an attack on education…all designed to make compliant workers.

The Trump FCC chair started it by threatening ABC’s license as well as licenses of ABC affiliates…Nexstar/Sinclair said they wouldn’t broadcast the show, then ABC bowed to pressure and said the show was cancelled indefinitely.
Disney is worth $200+ billion, and if they fought this in court, the first amendment is clearly on their side. But like Paramount before them, they are complying in advance.
