Even back in the Windows 3.1 or 95 days I didn’t have to reboot this often - sometimes twice a day. Seems a bit excessive?

For anyone wondering, just edit /etc/xdg/discoverrc and change the flag to “false”. Edit: looks like it can also be changed with a checkbox in system settings > software updates.
