The secretary of state, heading to talks with Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia, said future talks with Moscow will be needed to determine what Russia is willing to give up to end the war.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Monday that Ukraine would have to make concessions over land that Russia had taken since 2014 as part of any agreement to end the war.

Mr. Rubio spoke as he was flying to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, for talks with senior Ukrainian officials, and 10 days after a contentious White House meeting between President Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky. The Trump administration halted military aid to Ukraine after the blowup, which centered on Mr. Trump’s refusal to include any security guarantees in a proposed deal involving Ukraine’s natural resources.

    What are you even on about? Russia confirmed they took the kids

    What amount of kids are you talking about? I specifically mentioned that this happened occasionally with few children left behind in the frontlines. I also discussed the 16k number thrown around by the Ukrainian government not being backed by any evidence or independent research, and most likely being a propaganda stunt.

    I don’t have an interest in Russia winning, I’m sad for Ukrainian people and for the existence of the war, I’m just asking you to remember the people on the left of the political spectrum that have been asking for negotiations for the past 3 years, and who’ve been labeled as “pro-russian” for asking for negotiations as early as possible. The war will end with negotiations, the negotiations will most likely end up being unfortunate for Ukrainian interests and beneficial to the Russian government, and the 3 years of meat grinder could have been avoided if negotiations had happened from the start.

      Grigory Karasin, head of the international committee in the Federation Council, Russia’s upper house of parliament, said 700k in 2023, the 20k figure is from a 2022 Ukrainian claim.

      Russian authorities claim more children abducted than those of Ukraine.
