Was looking for an old post of mine and noticed jawa21’s comments were all marked deleted as well as the account. Was like “aww, man, not her too”.

  • I kind of love how Star Trek booze is all sorts of horrible shades of color. Kanar looks like muddy water; whatever Scotty has here (Romulan ale? But that’s usually blue, right?) looks like algae water.

      Aldebran whiskey

Romulan ale looks delicious, but that’s probably just me expecting the usual “blue” flavor I’m used to lol.

      • Blue is a perfectly respectable alcohol color. Romulan ale looks like Curaçao to me. Maybe Curaçao that’s emitting Cherenhov radiation, but still… at least it looks like booze and not something you scooped out of a stagnant puddle. Anyway, I love the effort to try to make it look “alien,” like, someone actually put thought into how to make a liquid look alien.

Semi-related, and I forget where I read it, but I think for Kanar, it was just corn syrup and caramel coloring.

Edit: Oh, yeah, Memory Alpha, duh.

Karo syrup was used for brown kanar to create the effect of a dark, thick liquid, which Damar actor Casey Biggs actually drank. (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Companion, p. 696) Property Master Joe Longo joked, in Star Trek: The Magazine Volume 1, Issue 4, that “he was drinking so much he was getting wired, so we started using a thickened sugar-free pancake syrup.”
