Really unfortunate news given how hard he worked to come back after the blood clot in record time. Hope he can have a good recovery.
Going to be some tough decisions this summer for the Bucks.
Given Dame is likely out all next year and they haven’t played all that great even with him you have to think the offseason starts with them seeing if Giannis still wants to stay.
You’re basically going to go into next season planning on the 2nd round being your absolute ceiling and Dame has a player option the year after as well so you won’t have cap space for awhile.
They don’t have control of their own pick until like 2031 and won’t have any cap space to make moves outside of trades and I don’t know how much you can really get when you’re mostly minimum deals outside of Portis and Kuzma.
I know Giannis has said he’ll stay as long as their contending but it’s pretty clear that’s not going to be happening so it may be mutually beneficial for both him and the bucks to look for a trade this offseason as much as it pains me to say that as a fan of the Bucks.
A Portlander, I was rooting for him so hard to get one with the bucks. Seems like it never has lined up the way they needed to, real shame.
Who can afford Giannis if he decides to leave, I guess everyone but where would he want to go? He’d not want to loot his future team so may wait until he’s out of contract to leave so they get him on the free agent. Who would he want to play with who compliments his weaknesses? Who has enough to make it interesting for him?
Yeah it would’ve been nice if the pairing had worked out, maybe a different coach could’ve figured it out.
The market for Giannis is going to be interesting. I think the bucks respect him enough to listen to where he wants to go which would be a contender but with his salary and the bucks wanting picks it does limit that a bit.
Maybe Houston especially if they lose in the first round? OKC has picks and young players but if they win it this year they probably don’t make a major move like that. Maybe a 3 team with the Pelicans involved in some way so the bucks get their own picks back and the Pelicans can shuffle players if they want to change things up?
Probably won’t know until the offseason as we see who underperforms expectations.

If Houston is willing to trade Sengun for Giannis I think that’s the best fit for everybody. Tough decision to make though.
