Laws are supposed to mean something, and we’re supposed to organize a revolution when they don’t. There’s no inherent power to laws besides the agreement to follow them, upheld by the threat of violence if that agreement is broken. Without that threat, those in power have realized they no longer have an obligation to pay attention to them at all.
