Campfire cooking is one of my favorite parts of camping. Here’s a few of my favorites:
Kabobs with chicken, zucchini peppers,onion,mushrooms
Corn on the cob - I cook them in the husk after a soak in water. They come out a little charred and taste amazing.
Potatoes, garlic and onions sealed in heavy foil with too much butter. I throw it right on hot coals for a long time.
Maybe I’m a sucker, but mac and cheese will always be a favorite on the trail or so home.
To feed a lot, spaghetti goes the distance. I like some good brats - if frozen solid they act as an ice pack on day 1. But my favourite… what makes a good camp out , is breakfast. Eggs scrambled , lots of Vermont maple sausage, all the grease and butter then to toast and perk pot death wish sludge. Soooo good
MREs all day any day. Lasagna is top tier
Tortellini with shrimp and tomato sauce (we use frozen shrimp), grilled fish, and basically any stir-fried food.
