Noticed my memory usage steadily increasing when I leave my Lemmy tab open after interacting with everything. I’m using Firefox on Win10.

There is a GitHub issue on it here. If you’re even slightly tech savvy, keep an eye on your memory usage and see if you can reproduce it. So far it looks like a Firefox/Lemmy issue on both Windows and Linux. But keep and eye out even if you don’t use Firefox.

If you do run across it, please report it in the link above.

Edit: Forgot to add, the workaround is to close your Lemmy tab in Firefox, and wait for the memory use to be cleaned up (~20 seconds), then you can re-open it.

Interesting. I’ve been having an ongoing problem with Firefox on my pixel 6a where occasionally sites will cause Firefox to become unresponsive, and then the phone will reboot the next time the screen is turned off. It’s pretty rare, but it’s happened several times while browsing Lemmy. Wonder if it’s related?

Anecdotally, I experienced a similar thing on a Pixel 6A, albeit it’s running Graphene not Android. Firefox completely froze up, I did have a lemmy tab open I’d been using. Eventually it crashed and I didn’t have to restart or anything tho.

Same thing happens to me on macOS in Arc and Safari.

Update: Since the site’s update to 0.18.0-rc.4, I haven’t been able to replicate the issue. Fingers crossed!
