I on the other hand kind of enjoy the part where we have some system that makes sure people who design our bridges and create our medicene know what they are doing.
If it’s only about checking the knowledge: Talking to the students (e.g., in a job interview). But grades have a place as a screening tool because not everyone had the time to go through 10000 applications for 10 jobs.
