Still have my DC and copy of PSO. Save still loads to, IIRC (it’s been a few months since I tried playing PSO). Great game, one of my favorites of all time. I still listen to the OST.

Technology@lemmy.world•EU Commission fines Apple over €1.8 billion over abusive App store rules for music streaming providersEnglish
32·2 years agoIt supports services apple decided aren’t competing with Apple Music.
So, Apple’s in the wrong because Spotify didn’t add the Siri music API?
In 2020, Apple did a HomePod Siri music API, and some services, such as Pandora, have adopted it.
Unfortunately, Spotify, the biggest music streaming service, has still not implemented thishttps://9to5mac.com/2023/09/21/ios-17-play-spotify-music-on-homepod/
It’s worth mentioning Apple has released a new API for music streaming apps allowing them to be controlled by Siri through a HomePod. However, Spotify, for whatever reason, has refused to implement the software into its app on iOS.
Like, I get it: the internet has a hate boner for Apple, and in a lot cases it’s justified. But it’s 100% on Spotify for this one.

Technology@lemmy.world•How Disney and Warner Bros. Are Causing Internet Piracy to Boom | Platforms like Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+ were supposed to do away with pirated media. Instead, they may make them stronger than ever.English
2·2 years agoI know it gets quoted a lot, but Gabe was 100% right. It boggles my mind how people in power over these streaming services just don’t get it:
One thing that we have learned is that piracy is not a pricing issue. It’s a service issue. The easiest way to stop piracy is not by putting antipiracy technology to work. It’s by giving those people a service that’s better than what they’re receiving from the pirates.

181·2 years agoHonestly, I’d much rather movies and shows be like music. I could subscribe to Apple Music, or Google Play, or YouTube Music, or Tidal, or Spotify, etc. That’s competition. Not spreading it out all over. Too much fragmentation can be bad for consumers too. It’s why I’ve been doing my best with buying stuff I really want instead of streaming it. Some stuff I can’t buy, and I get that. But others, I’m doing my damnedest to own it so I don’t need to subscribe for it.
Side note: I know it (streaming movies like music) is a pipe dream that’ll never happen. But still, one can dream.

It ain’t dead yet, but it’s not looking good. I second this sentiment, however. I love Bandcamp and was so pissed when they bought it, only to be more pissed when they basically threw it away like a used napkin. Fuck Timmy Tencent.

Apple@lemmy.world•How Steve Jobs saved Apple with the online Apple Store
7·2 years agoIt has gotten better, but there’s till the mess of the iPads: I get mini and Pro, but Apple needs to drop either the iPad or iPad Air. Maybe just do Mini, Pro, Air, and maybe like SE or something? iPhones have that issue too: iPhone, iPhone Pro, iPhone SE, 3 isn’t too bad, but 4 (iPads) seems too much. It helps that the iPhones are numbered. I know iPads have generational numbers, but that’s not in the marketing.

Apple@lemmy.world•Is there anything you miss from previous iOS versions?
4·2 years agoThe widgets you add to the home screen aren’t the same as this Today View. Know how you side left from the first page, and it has a widgets view? The iPad had the option to keep that view permanently on the screen and bunch the icons to the right. The option was called “Keep Today View on Home Screen”:
https://www.macobserver.com/tips/quick-tip/today-view-iphone-ipad/
https://youtu.be/Y6YY06bLEEo?si=w1MHfiw1GJD6yjSgIMHO, it was a much better implementation of home screen widgets than what we have now.
