  • Wrong!

If dozens of people tell you you’re doing it wrong, then it’s time to take a critical look at your actions, instead of just accusing everybody else of doing it wrong.

Not being able to process criticism without immediately getting defensive will make your life more difficult than it needs to be.

Then again, it is a skill that some people simply do not have. You might be literally unable to “defeat the ego” and have absolutely no doubt about your actions, even after so many people gave you feedback, people like that exist.

  • No, the problem is definitely with your communication.

All this time, you had the rule that you have to use barley. But instead of communicating that, you only wrote that you HAVE barley.

Having something doesn’t mean that you are required to use it. I have rice, it doesn’t mean I have to use it in my next meal.

If somebody makes a steak from the pantry without barley, they have not followed your hidden intention, but they have followed your instructions.

So… it just seemed like your challenge was “tell me a food you like” in an unnecessary roundabout way.

  • But that’s really sad, if you think about it.

“Generally in the USA, it’s considered suspicious.”

That means generally, Americans are unaware of these father-child activities.

That means generally, Americans didn’t have a good father.

Now, a lot of people would intuitively jump to “Nah my dad was ok” - but if this isn’t normal behaviour for you, then you’re just unaware of how bad your whole frame of reference is. That is a tough pill to swallow, though.

  • I think that’s a slight pun.

The “-archy” part comes from the greek for “to rule/command”. Monarchy = rule by a king, oligarchy = rule by few, etc.

And the “an-” part means “not” or “without”. So anarchy technically means “not ruled” or “without rule” - but if things are still being ruled, it would still be an “archy”, not a “not archy”.

  • And in this story specifically, the cyclops is a main story point.

Someone might describe the story as “It’s about a guy who gets lost and fights a cyclops”. If someone describes it as “It’s about a guy who gets lost and fights a black person”, I wouldn’t know what they’re talking about.

I don’t care if there’s black people in historical dramas, but the person responding in the image probably feels like they did such a sick burn, while what they really did was utterly fail logical thinking.
