Jayapal and Markey are both long-time progressives without presidential ambitions, so I actually trust that they’re sincere on this one. I don’t know anything about Jacobs.
Any centrists like Newsom who think they might get the mythical moderate Republican vote by throwing trans people under the bus? I agree, I don’t trust an inch

Let them be alienated. Trans rights are human rights, and they’re non-negotiable. Trans people are such a small minority, our rights depend on cis allies being vocal advocates, even when it isn’t easy. Social progress has never happened by backing away from an issue conservatives are mad about and waiting for them to change their minds and come around.
I do not think that live-streaming executions will make our society any healthier.

Everything is a distraction from everything else. I doubt any specific catastrophe is planned, particularly as a distraction, but the cumulative effect is deliberate. The faster they go and the more chaotic everything gets, the harder it is to stay focused to stop them. See Bannon’s “muzzle velocity” theory
Are men okay?

Having fun, isn’t hard

Absolutely not! I have always found that my creative output has been at its best when I’m at my most mentally healthy.

I have some ideas about how to make them enjoy themselves less

So should they just stay in a job they know is wrong?

I don’t use them often, but I think they’re still useful. Mostly at work meetings and when I’m at conferences, exchanging business cards is probably the easiest way to quickly share contact info

By building a movement that demands it

That would be a great application for it! Okay, I’m swayed in the other direction. For stuff like schools, churches, etc, I can see it making sense. Especially if the machines aren’t hard to maintain.

Yeah, that’s fair. Snow blowers as a personal purchase have always felt silly to me, since if needed you could always pay for a shovel/plow service that just come when it snows, so you don’t have an expensive appliance sitting around that might barely be used. Now I’m wondering what the cost comparison would look like between the two. I suppose it depends on how much snow you usually get

What was wrong with a $10 shovel?

Lotta Nazis on substack

I’ve been on the Fediverse since mid-2023, and I’m sticking around!
I bailed on Reddit, FB, and IG, and I’m only on Mastodon and Piefed now. I find that not being on algorithm-driven social media makes me less angry, and I have a much easier time avoiding getting caught up in a mindless scrolling marathon.
I like the ability to filter out by keywords, it makes for a much more pleasant experience
As far as improvements, my main complaint is that I wish there were more people and that the people who are here comment more. Bigger isn’t necessarily better, but there are a lot of communities that just don’t have enough people posting and commenting to make things feel lively yet.

I saw a post on Mastodon about it, but a cursory search didn’t turn it up. I’ll look a bit more later and see if I can find it
You beat me to it! Tubthumping always gets me fired up
