For me, pacman is my comfort zone. Fast, reliable and easy to handle. But apt was it for a long time as well.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What mediocre game, show, or movie has an incredible soundtrack?
3·30 days agoTurok 2 for GBC. Mediocre game, but man, the OST is a banger.
Started watching Dragonball this year for the first time since I was a kid. After the last half and latest with Dragonball Z I realized how bad it actually was and that my kid’s brain just saved it as good.

Technology@lemmy.world•LG Update Installs Unremovable Microsoft Copilot on Smart TVs, Ignites BacklashEnglish
4·1 month agoIf I want to avoid connecting my LG smart TV with my network, but I would like to still use a remote with an external device running Jellyfin plugged in via HDMI, what privacy respecting options do I have here? AFAIK, TV sticks run Android and can also collect your data, so my natural guess would be to plug in a device running Linux, but how about remote control?

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Capitalism isn't the problem, THIS is the problem, and I've watched it roll over us for 40 years. [3 min. video]
4·1 month agoThis would happen under any system since power-hungry narcissists are everywhere, so sooner or later every society would run into these issues. My statement is not meant to defend capitalism but to rather state the question on how to prevent or diminish these kind of influences from power-hungry people, independent of the underlying economic system.

Games@lemmy.world•What game is a guilty pleasure of yours?English
4·2 months agoTurok 2 for GameBoy Color. It was one of my first games for the GameBoy and I still love it, although, objectively speaking, it might not even be average. The translation was bad and left me confused (non-native English speaker), the levels were not particularly well designed and the platforming and shooting was very bland. But I did not care and it really threw me into the Lost World (was a huge fan of the Lost World movie based on the novel and also the cheesy 90s TV series). The music was great, though, to the point that I would consider it to be in my top 3 all-time gaming OSTs (I think the composer was Alberto Gonzales). Nowadays, I replay it from time to time on my retro handheld. Despite the general forgettable nature of the game, I still have fond memories playing it and the music plays a big role in this as well.

2·2 months agoI am in the same boat (learning on the go, living in EU and using fail2ban and reverse proxy although I use nginx). Sounds good that it runs so well for you! Where did you register your domain? I’ll look into BunnyCDN as well.

1·2 months agoI looked into porkbun and it seems that they already offer a Cloudflare API for dynamic DNS. Why did you choose to separately use Cloudflare? Bit otherwise it looks promising to give it a try.

21·2 months agoI have a cronjob that runs every minute to update the IP address. I could try to increase it to every hour or so. In the beginning I tracked how often the ISP changed the address and it was roughly like once every 24-30 hours, cannot really remember.

1·2 months agoFor me it seems like a very similar issue with these inconsistencies. Why would your think it does not really match? Especially given that the network connection of our server location is always fine during these down times?

2·2 months agoSo there could be a potenital issue where the correct IP address has been sent but the record has not been updated … Yesterday for example we faced the issue that at least one of three could not access the server. Suddenly it worked for someone who could not connect, only for him to lose access again after a couple of minutes. We all have been in Discord during that time, and the internet connection was fine for everyone.

1·2 months agoThe server is running at my friends house who has a fiber connection. When we face these connection issues, it does not necessarily mean that all of us cannot access Jellyfin but often times only a couple of us cannot access (same error as if you mistype a web-address, so it cannot resolve the domain name). During these periods of connection issues, the internet connection of my friend is working completely fine. I have a script running that constantly sends the current IP address to the dynDNS provider. I also looked into how often our ISP changes the IP address and it is not very often and not during these issues.

This looks absolutely amazing!
