  • In 2023, Dilbert was dropped by numerous independent newspapers as well as its distributor, Andrews McMeel Syndication (which owns GoComics, from where the comic was also removed), after Adams published a video where he called Black Americans who disagreed with the slogan “It’s okay to be white” a “hate group” and said White Americans should “get the hell away from” them.[4][5] The video was widely described by sources such as The Economist and Reuters as containing “racist comments” and being a “racist rant”.[4][5] Adams stated that he disavows racism.[6] The following month, Adams relaunched the strip as a webcomic on Locals under the name Daily Dilbert Reborn.

  • It has been a while since Arctic worked for me, having been on the TestFlight, but I do not recall it being any better than mlem’s image handling.

Edit: was able to install Arctic from the App Store. In this post I think Arctic absolutely fails at the image thumbnails.

I intended for the boondocks image to be visible as the thread thumbnail and the oops image seen within the post. But Arctic takes two landscape images, crops them to portrait making both unreadable without tapping to view the image.

I do like, however, that after tapping on one image I can swipe to see the next.

Edit 2: same thread on Mlem

  • I used to be an arctic user, but quit after it was abandoned. I also used Memmy and Mlem from when I first joined lemmy. After Arctic I became a full time Mlem user.

The devs are very responsive, and every app I try these days I compare to Mlem.

I try to post ideas for the app here so there is some discussion, because while I may think my idea is great, someone might have a similar idea to make it even better.

Bugs I try to report on GitHub, but usually end up reporting in the matrix chat and sjmarf ends up opening a git issue for me… trying to get better about that.
