I hated its UI requiring Javascript first so that registered my account on kbin.social. But I became to have liked Mastodon after noticing that it has API which we can use without Javascript.

By the way, does the old UI make lemmy.world heavier than its default UI? Either yes or no, I want lemmy.world to continue providing the old UI. I love it! :D

My proposal: using old UI by default must mitigate the attacks because we will no longer have to download shitty *.js files anymore.

My guess: lemmy.world is attacking itself to make people believe that it is more popular enough than Reddit to be attacked so hard.

Isn’t there a possibility that Cloudflare is making the script kids do DDoS attacks against lemmy.world to sell its CDN? :D

Thanks for your info of fedidb! Are all instances listed in fedidb federated each other? I want to be sure about it somehow…

It probably has a way, since kbin has a federation button at the top right in the sidebar. kbin.social’s bar has the “instances” list empty there.

I have no kbin account so I cannot tell if it’s private and the list would be nonempty when someone logged in kbin.social views it.

They are as you said. Now I’ve come to think that scraping the magazines list is the most realistic way to find federated instances from a certain instance except blocked ones.

I want admins to publish their configs to federate/block other instances though they have no duty to do. :D
