i would share mine, but i dont think i can say with words anything better than i did with pictures.

Example: notice how we clearly see David, and David’s eyes, nose, cheeks, mouth, hair. However, notice how this isn’t really the case, we see a bunch of shades of gray.

If you wanted to paint using this model you would try to first observe, REALLY LOOK at his face and try to notice what stands out. What characterizes him to you? What would you ABSOLUTELY need in making him look like him (since you have limited time, as you’re in the transport).

After that you would attempt to add lines or strokes to your page while observing your model, looking at the page only to calibrate and execute strokes.

The process is intuitive, takes time to develop, but IF you can laugh at yourself, it’s pretty fun throughout, ELSE it will be painful at the beggining, cause (at least for me) my first tries looked terrible, but with time, they looked less terrible and so on.

Drawing like a child is a compliment. Children are yet free and mostly unburdened by the aesthetic demands of adulthood.

I used to teach this shit. And my opinion is that people make this more complicated than it is.

So… uh real shit, try to do quick drawings / paintings (using a timer) with a model (can be living or not). Think 1 minute, 30 seconds, 10 seconds. Doing this consistently (like drawing people in the public transport, which is time limited by default) will make you better at observing and putting those observations to paper.

The other key is to TRY to draw the model and not your IDEA of the model. This often implies painting/ drawing a bunch of amorphous blotches as opposed to straight clearly demarcated physiological features.

this is iffy, but you can use the inspector and try to find which of the files is the video you want, then download those manually. Less iffy, use obs-studio and record the videos like how we used to do music in cassettes (in real time).
