I’m curious, who were your top 5, if you filled out the ballot.
My ballot this week:
My rankings are totally subjective, based on my feel for the vibe of a program. Tennessee is fairly ranked here and I will die on that hill with no air support. I’m really high on Michigan even though they ain’t played no one Pawwwwllll. I’m not very high on USC because they ain’t played no one Pawwwwllll. FSU I’m also relatively low on. Sure they beat an ok LSU team week 0, but they haven’t raised my eyebrow that much since. I’ve had georgia about this low for the past few weeks, but I’ve also had kentucky about this high the past few weeks. I’ve kept LSU this high because it felt like they handled that loss pretty well, but the longer this week has gone on the more I’ve doubted that. I also just really like the brand of Iowa football, so I’ll be quick to vote for them.
FSU feels like they’re waiting on the epic loss that’ll send them nose diving out of the rankings. They’ve had too many stupid close calls.
In my mind FSU, Texas, and Penn State are all waiting on that meltdown loss. But until then, I think top-10 rankings for them are justifiable.
With respect to Texas, you shut your whore mouth :)
Honestly, I don’t think we’ve really come nearly as close as FSU. The indicator to me is the multiple single score wins over teams that are just atrocious.
Edit: Wording wasn’t quite what I wanted.
Yeah Texas (and Penn State) does look to be on more solid footing than FSU.
Also I have Georgia half-included in that mental list. I forget the exact stat, but something like “in 5 of their 6 games, they’ve been down by 10 or more in the first half”. Wouldn’t be too surprised if they lost one of their games—they have 4 now-ranked teams remaining on their schedule
I think Georgia losing at this point is basically a coin flip. Question is…who gets into the CFP between a one-loss SEC team and an undefeated Pac champ?
If it’s USC, USC.
If it’s Oregon State, the 1-loss SEC team.
