I still don’t know how he lasted 6 years. I know this is a program it’s historically hard to win at, but it should be feasible to consistently make bowl games in the current iteration of the CUSA.
Now THIS is where I think Gary Patterson could be happy. His literal BFF is just over the state line in Las Cruces and creative recruiting with diligent coaching might be still successful at this level without having to do the same level of ass-kissing and re-recruiting and portal and NIL stuff that the P5 now requires. By the end in Fort Worth, he was thrashing around like an old and injured lion.
