Summary

Elon Musk’s America PAC is offering $100 to registered voters who sign a petition opposing “activist judges” ahead of Wisconsin’s Supreme Court election on April 1st.

The legality of this tactic is debated, as it doesn’t mandate voting but requires voter registration.

The race pits conservative Brad Schimel, backed by Musk’s $14 million, against liberal Judge Susan Crawford, with liberals aiming to retain a 4-3 majority.

Musk’s support also ties to Tesla’s lawsuit against Wisconsin’s dealership ban.

Cool. Another blatant bribery case that nothing will be done about because he’s above the law.

Now now, let’s not be uncharitable.

I’m sure someone is working on filing a legal challenge. Thereafter everyone will need several years to collate evidence, then getting everyone in a room can be tough, and then there might be appeals.

In as little as 7 or 8 short years we could have an answer as to whether or not this petition was allowed to take place.

While I get the cynicism, it’s not like there are no means to stall a possibly illegal practice until a proper ruling has been done. The judicative branch isn’t entirely toothless and isn’t ignorant of the reality of time-sensitivity.

Oh you mean ignoring the rule of law makes the judicative branch irrelevant? Who would’ve thonk.

You’re right, but sadly in recent years I’ve just lost all faith that any kind of timely intervention will be implemented.
