From the article:
U.S. Reps. Garret Graves, R-La. and Mark Pocan, D-Wis. made the announcement as co-chairs stating that they wish to protect “the integrity of these treasured venues … while enhancing their capabilities.”
…
Specifically, the caucus wants to target security enhancements, technological upgrades and create infrastructure upgrades for the stadiums, some of which are more than 120 years old.
The 18 stadiums:
- Beaver Stadium (Penn State)
- Camp Randall Stadium (Wisconsin)
- Cotton Bowl
- Davis Wade Stadium (Mississippi State)
- Franklin Field (Penn)
- Husky Stadium (Washington)
- Jordan-Hare Stadium (Auburn)
- Los Angeles Coliseum (USC)
- Memorial Stadium (California)
- Memorial Stadium (Clemson)
- Memorial Stadium (Illinois)
- Nippert Stadium (Cincinnati)
- Rose Bowl (UCLA)
- Spartan Stadium (San Jose State)
- Tiger Stadium (LSU)
- Vaught-Hemingway Stadium (Ole Miss)
- Wallace Wade Stadium (Duke)
- Yale Bowl (Yale)
I don’t really expect for anything to materialize from this, but the Cotton Bowl in particular could really benefit since it doesn’t have a permanent tenant and hasn’t aged gracefully.
For history’s sake, I would have also liked to see more Ivy League stadiums on the list (but I guess they’re not really hurting for money). Of current FBS schools, Bobby Dodd and the Big House are also notably absent.
