Yeah but in the case the taxpayer dollars would be delivering a service, getting the advertisers to deliver on their promises
I believe that’s “the secret” to taxpayer money in general. People want some collective return of investment. If that dollar contributes towards infrastructure, education, service to people, everyone gets something in return, ideally something worth more than the money invested… Locking up people also does something. But it’s kinda super expensive and the only thing we get is those people not wandering the streets for some time. So not really any monetary return.
