I looked up that politico article, and to interpret it like this is kind of ignorant. It comes off like you already didn’t like this guy and are trying to mislead with half truths.

Inside Mamdani’s fraught effort to rein in the NYPD unit he pledged to end

A Mamdani spokesperson declined to comment Tuesday on why the mayor didn’t use his power to call back the SRG last week if he didn’t think its deployment was justified. The spokesperson also would not say if the mayor has ever used his authority to reject a request from the NYPD for SRG intervention.

Amanda Jack, The Legal Aid Society’s policy director for criminal law reform, laced into the Mamdani administration after being informed of the existing policy.

“It is deeply troubling that City Hall has the authority to stop SRG deployments, yet continues to approve them at demonstrations, including at the protests outside the United Nations last week where the mayor himself acknowledged that the deployment was an inappropriate use of police resources,” said Jack, whose group has long advocated for abolishing the SRG. “This further confirms that regulating SRG deployments isn’t the solution. City Hall must finally make good on Mayor Mamdani’s campaign promise to disband SRG for good.”

Which half isn’t true? Is it that Mamdani has the authority to disband the SRG as well as the authority to refuse its deployment under any circumstances? Or that he has this far not done anything at all with that power?

Another DemSoc gets a fell for it again award…

He’s not a fucking king. Sounds to me like his office tried regulations over SRG. It’s not working; if escalated action towards disbanding SRG doesn’t occur, I’d be surprised given how effective I’ve seen him be from afar.

Again, I don’t live in New York, I’m just not quick to piss on one of few people who maybe are trying to do the right thing within the bounds of a shitty system.

I get it, the bar is set very low, and we should hold our politicians accountable, but I don’t think anyone plans on just letting him pretend to be effective. He’s under a freaking microscope by people on the right and the left obviously.

That’s exactly the plan for the compatible left. DSA candidates get elected, do nothing but keep another generation of left-leaning people safely inside the confines of the center-right party and keep Wall St’s profits safe a while longer. If they thought he was going to fundamentally change the status quo there would suddenly be a very serious allegation of sexual assault and he’d be wiped off the playing field. If that didn’t work he’d get what Fred Hampton got.

Yeah man, the lizard people that secretly run the USA behind closed doors are puppeteering all of this to make us complacent… what the fuck ever.

Lol, I can’t believe anyone is actually oblivious enough to think that’s the takeaway from what I wrote, so I’m gonna assume your response is just bad faith trolling.

Keep doing the thing that created the problem, someday it’ll definitely solve the problem!

Lol, no you wouldn’t. You’ll just find some new justification and throw it down the memory hole.

You’re in for a rude shock then.
