This is why I don’t really listen to the “wear your seatbelt thing” on flights

That plane disintegrated in three frames

yeah, the “wear your seatbelt” thing isn’t for when you nosedive to your death. It’s for when you’re sitting there eating your shitty snack and the plane hits unexpected turbulence and drops 700 ft in 2 seconds while your face doesn’t until it gets hit with the ceiling of an airplane.

Airplane seatbelts aren’t for crashes, they’re for turbulance. When the plane suddenly drops 20 ft, you want to be attached to it otherwise you’re gonna slam into the ceiling and land on someone else.

Not every crash is the same. Also the seat belts work for turbulence, where the plane can hit a blob of low pressure and plummet several metres with little warning, so the belt is there to stop you colliding with the deck panels above you.

This was really sad. I heard a little bit of the voice recorder. The situation went from moderately bad to mayday to catastrophy in less than 60 seconds.

Here’s my understanding of what they believe happened: They appear to have flown directly into a thunderstorm which caused ice to build up very rapidly. That ice buildup caused a loss of control which caused the plane to bank hard to one side, most likely stall, then spiral straight down.

The sheer terror everyone must have felt in their final moments is what haunts me.
