    Things I’m seeing:

    • Miami apparently had one hell of an off season in our minds, with the greatest jump
    • Michigan, predictably, takes the largest tumble in our eyes from last season to this
    • Georgia is the team to beat, but the two of us with polls seem split on #2
    • Only 2 (serious) ballots, so I’m creating a bracket prediction contest to try and boost those numbers, let me know if you have other ideas
    • lots of ties this week, possibly because we only have 2 ballots
    • NO aLABAMA IN THE BANNER BABYYYYYYYY
    • FSU lol

Love the bracket prediction contest! I was planning almost exactly the same thing but got real busy at work. Unfortunately I have a project that is going to be a huge time sink through the Fall… I’ll still make time for cfb of course – just can’t be as hands on with the community as I was last season (I won’t be able to make the game threads manually anymore, so we may need to put out an open call for someone with actual scripting know-how to get the game bot up and running to automate those things).

Michigan, predictably, takes the largest tumble

I think the tumble Washington took eclipses that of the Wolverines…

Also, is this weeks poll to be updated for W0 results or will it remain open through Labor Day? Because my algorithm is additive, I don’t update my ballot after W0 since too few teams play (it would result in FSU going up in the rankings, lol).

You’re right, I didn’t even think about the huskies lol. I’ll leave the poll through week 1 and post the results leading into week 2. This will also give people time to read about the contest and put together their ballots.

My ballot. Computer poll – and I should note that teams that played in both week 0 and week 1 are going to be artificially high (they will regress in the coming weeks). So disregarding the Noles holding onto their preseason #4 spot (and the whopping 36-place rise of the Yellow Jackets and SMU ponying up into 10th), there aren’t a ton of surprises.

Georgia is a clear #1, Texas a clear #2, and a bit of a pack for the next 10 spots or so. I’m not really sure how Wisconsin or Michigan went up. If my ballot followed the eye test, they definitely would have slipped, probably Oregon as well. Virginia Tech also should have not risen, but they were one of the few teams to actually play a P4 opponent which is why the computer placed them there.
