If i was a neighbor of Germany i would get very worried. Germany now openly embraces attack wars against other countries. In combination with the plans to massively arm up this government and a potential future government with AfD in the coalition will probably be interested in invading other countries again.
I was unsure if this could really be true, but the story is confirmed by for instance DW:
https://www.dw.com/en/germanys-merz-says-israel-doing-dirty-work-for-us-in-iran/live-72939104This is a very bad turn. The attack was unprovoked, and based on clearly Israels one sided interests. Not much different from Russia attacking Ukraine.
It’s bad that any European leader support this, and it’s very bad that Germany is making such a 180° on previous policies of peaceful solutions in the region. For instance being against the invasion of Iraq, a war that resulted in Iran having more influence there than ever. While Germany formally was against the war in Iraq it allowed the US to facilitate significant parts of its logistics through US bases in Germany. In the subsequent years and continuing today the Ramstein airbase is used as a major relay station for drone control. Drones the US used for thousands of murders all over Africa and Asia in its “fight against terror”.
What is new and worrying is how brazenly Germany now positions itself in defiance of international law and for wars of aggression.
AFAIK the use of the Rammstein base was based on old agreements that had nothing to do with the Iraq war.
But I 100% agree on the part about Merz abandoning the respect for international law.It is written “Ramstein”. The band has a double m. However it doesn’t matter any previous agreements or whatever. If the base is used for illegal activities the hosting country has a right and a duty to stop that illegal activity. Otherwise it is complicit.
Ahh shit here we go again
