If he pulled his piece (even unregistered) and uncorked a mag into the assailant it would have been 100% justified as self defense. (Unregistered weapons are legal self defense weapons. USA number one)

That driver steered a two ton vehicle (deadly weapon) into a pedestrian and touched them
The ONLY reason the pedestrian is alive is that the maniac who was willing to hit someone with their car was also “not trying to hurt him”
Are you gonna assume the man who steers a car into you and touches you with it isn’t trying to hurt you?
There is no reasonable person who would not fear for their life in that situation.
