CLAYTON — Two activists who participated in a pro-Palestine protest last spring at Washington University now face charges, the St. Louis County prosecuting attorney’s office said Wednesday.

Those charged include Jill Stein, the presidential nominee of the Green Party in 2024, who is accused of hitting a police officer with a bicycle and kicking him at the protest. Stein, 74, was charged Friday with first-degree trespass and fourth-degree assault.

In charging documents, Washington University police said demonstrators were given numerous warnings to leave the university’s private campus. Officers moved in for arrests around 8 p.m. Court documents alleged Stein interlocked her arms with other demonstrators and refused to leave.

In an interview with the Post-Dispatch just days after the protest, Stein disputed accounts that she struck an officer.

“While I was being assaulted with a bicycle, one of the police bent down and picked up my foot in order to try to further destabilize me into falling backwards,” Stein said. “And I wiggled out of his grip, you know, in an effort not to fall back on my head.”

honestly the dems were perfectly capable of losing the election all on their own, they really didn’t need any assistance in that department

Point is, running third party is sabotaging the platform you claim to support. If you want something more effective, look at what’s happening to Tesla right now.

The Dems platform is the facilitation of genocide of Palestinians. Good on Jill Stein trying to “sabotage” that

what kinda of logic is that ? if the option is genocide, genocide with bs lip-service and no genocide then no genocide is always the answer. snakes like schumer and pelosi are still in control of dnc because we didn’t loose hard enough. 3rd party getting more than 10 percent of votes would have been best thing for our political system.

dnc has become full of parasites who won’t waste one second putting on the maga hat if it can make them more money. just look at harris, so much farce before election and now partying in hawai with her aipac lobbyists husband.

Did trump run as the Fascist Dictatorship party candidate?

No, he ran as a Republican and turned the Republican party into the Fascist Dictatorship party.

Similarly you have a better chance of taking over the Democratic party and turning it into the Green party than you do of winning as a Green party candidate.

The game is rigged to prevent third party candidates from winning, If you want to actually improve things you either have to play the game with a party that can win an election, like AOC or Bernie, or you have to play a different game altogether, like Luigi.

No, the game is rigged to prevent views the bourgeoisie doesn’t like from reaching government. You can’t turn the Dems left just as much as you can’t get a left wing Congressperson

AOC and Bernie haven’t improved anything.

The problem with trying to replicate Trump’s success at taking over a party from the inside is that there’s institutional resistance from the party against moving to the left. Republicans and their donors don’t really oppose being the fascist dictatorship party. Democrats and their donors absolutely oppose being a democratic socialism party.

Electoralism is not a game we can win. The only winning move is not to play.

So instead you pick “even more genocide”?

No, instead you pick the “no genocide” option. Quite telling that you’d pick “less genocide”

your efforts are better spent outside the election

What I’m saying is that voting third party does nothing, you either have to turn the democratic party into what you want, or scare the politicians(or rather, their owners) into getting rid of first past the post.

If you ever find yourself on a side that’s pro genocide, you’re the bad guy. There might be worse guys, but probably not. Being the team of ‘well they’re promising to not genocide me so let them have some genocide as a treat’ does worse than nothing, and historically hasn’t worked out so well.

If two parties are the pro genocide parties, then you logically cannot support either. It’s worth voting third party to register your displeasure, while working towards other goals that will hopefully bring real change when the opportunity arises.

In any case nothing is ever solved or improved by genocide. So any option with genocide is the worst option among the infinite things you can attempt to do.

If you believe this then you have no idea what the conflict is or what has been happening in the region, pretty much ever.

We’re the Germans genocided to end their genocide?

                  they share the land

No, Israel is a settler state, Palestinians are the people that have got most of theirs homes stolen and have their country occupied.

they both believe they have a god-given right to?

Palestine is not an ethnicity based in religion, by example George Habash, cofounder of the PFLP, was Christian.

                  so what’s your solution?

The dissolution of the State of Israel by force to end the genocide. But the solution that matters is the one that Palestinians agree among themselves.

I don’t think you know anything about the conflict. the Palestinians are demanding the right of return. they just want to go back to their homes and not be second class citizens. they’re not demanding control of the land but of course they should be able to vote on everything their Israeli counterparts can.

Yes… They share the land. And it worked out great. Jews were safely living in Palestine along side Christians and Muslims for longer than any form of Israel ever existed.

It worked out fantastically, until a British Nazi and a group of white quasi Jewish people came up with Zionism and convinced the German Nazis and US totally not Nazis that it would be better if Jews all were forced back to Israel once and for all.

Until Zionism was invented in the late 1800s, it was unthinkable to have a Jewish state (since that’s against the religion), and unthinkable to oppress the natives of the land of Palestine to make a Jewish state.

Alaska got rid of First Past The Post voting and now use Ranked Choice. What excuse does your state representatives have to not pass this critical reform?

So those unrepresented by their options in the voting booth can make and/or vote for outside the two party system without a spoiler effect.

          So we can have democracy.

        the Greens

What greens? They’re not a real party.

So please, specifically which “greens” should the Democrats be working with?
