the fact that he has money is irrelevant to people’s feelings about him

and… better chances? are you fucking joking? the prosecution is asking for the death penalty for (allegedly) killing 1 dude

even if he did it, that’s not justice - that’s making an example out of him… that’s retribution that far outweighs the crime

No point in arguing with someone who comes to Lemmy to support the establishment. Downvote and move on

If Luigi wanted to oppose the establishment he would have shot one of the lawmakers who create and protect the broken healthcare system instead of some random goon operating in it.

But he’s innocent until proven guilty

The bad faith prosecution is proof they don’t care.

              They arrested a patsy.

What evidence? The trial hasn’t begun!

They shared “evidence” with the media that his defense counsel had no access to.

This is a bad faith prosecution with reasonable doubt baked in.

Will a judge dismiss the charges with prejudice? That’s what is warranted here.

While the court has yet to present their arguments and the jury won’t make a decision for quite some time, we still have lots to go on. We unfortunately have been following this story for months because of rabbid lemmings like you constant flooding the feed with your mangione fetishism.

Luigi has an online history of reading books about radical political ideology and leaving radicalized comments and reviews such as his four star review of the manifesto of famous serial killer Ted Kaczynski LINK HERE. Luigi stopped talking to family and friends for months before the event. Luigi was seen on camera near the crime renting a scooter. He wore the exact clothes and backpack he was caught with. The victim was shot with a gun matching the one found on Luigi’s person and an attachment that Luigi personally designed on his laptop and printed from his own 3D printer. He was also found with a handwritten note showing a deep fixation and obsession with healthcare individuals and talking about his own actions. He spent days travelling away from the crime while having done absolutely nothing in New York, no personal business.

If it wasn’t Luigi Mangione then wtf was he doing there? Why does the Altoona local cops have a handwritten note, the murder weapon, and $20,000 cash to plant?

It would be rare for a first degree murder, categorized by premeditation, planning, and afterthought, to not pursue the death penalty. Luigi is pleading innocent despite being caught fleeing with a gun and $20,000 cash to live off of while on the run.

The people making examples of him are the ones pushing him as some sort of saint and martyr to stoke violence and lawlessness specifically in the west.

He wasn’t caught with a gun. A cop searched his bag at the scene, took it to the station, “found” a gun in the front pocket there, and then turned it in as evidence.

So then you’re offering the alternative theory that the local cops in Altoona Pennsylvania had $20,000, a handwritten manifesto note signed by Luigi Mangione, and the murder weapon to plant?

You just sent me 600+ words of pure nothing, maybe try to use your own thoughts for a change?

Warrantless searches are illegal in Pennsylvania for homes and vehicles, they’re expected to search the suspects person during an arrest. The Altoona local police don’t have any skin off their teeth if an FBI manhunt turns up empty. Yes, he did have a ton of convenient evidence, because he had been fleeing the area of the crime scene for several days without rest. Something pretty unusual among innocent people, imo.

…how do you struggle with 600 words, and yet post so much online?

I posted a link to a news story that mentioned the process of picking him up, mentioning grabbing the bag and processing it later, just as I said was done.

Here’s another, where his defense attorney talks about how his backpack was searched away from the restaurant where he was arrested before the evidence was found. Unfortunately, it also has some words: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/mar/23/unitedhealthcare-ceo-shooting-trial-evidence

If every comment I replied to included an extra 600 words I’d be a lot less engaged with the conversation, that’s for sure.
