Summary

Protesters at a Kootenai County Republican Central Committee town hall in Idaho were forcibly removed after criticizing Trump policies, including the Elon Musk-led DOGE.

Event organizers dismissed their concerns, with one emcee saying, “Your voice is meaningless.”

Similar protests occurred in Georgia and Oklahoma, where Republicans faced criticism over mass layoffs.

Lawsuits have been filed against the administration over the legality of these dismissals.

Sounds like what they’re saying is that the normal methods of voicing dissatisfaction are not going to be effective, and we need to shift focus to other, more extreme, extrajudicial solutions, instead?

Has there ever been a peaceful revolution? I can’t think of any. Rights are taken from the oppressors, not given by them.

Well, yes there has been. It was so peaceful its historically even called the “Velvet Revolution” where the people of Czechoslovakia decided equally and peacefull to split into two countries, the Czech Republic and Slovak Republic (Slovakia). source

Of those, only Gandhi was associated with a revolution, and even in his case it seems like the way it played out (with the partition into India and Pakistan as separate countries) was much more along the lines of what some of the less non-violent revolutionaries wanted.

Ehh, they’re laying off the entire administrative side of the government. Should make it relatively easy to set up parallel power structures. What are they gonna do, send the cops they didn’t pay this month to arrest you and your collaborators?

Don’t you see that this is exactly what they want to impose violent crackdowns on violent protesters?

Right now is basically ride it out until the 2026 midterms and hope people actually show up to vote this time.

2026 midterm won’t happen without a violent revolution and the longuer it’s take to start the more violent it’s going to be.

US are a the point where only a civil war will get thing back on track

I agree violence should never be the answer but when the people in charge control everything from justice to every part of gouvernement little choice remain

How many guns do you have where you think you can take on ‘every part of the government?’.

Violence isn’t the answer but voting the next chance you have is.

More people should have voted in 2024 and this wouldn’t be a problem.

Clearly we should have just caved to hitler, since violence is never the answer.

Caving to the right is always the centrist answer.

These people just don’t know when to quit. We used to show up to the owner classes house in the middle of the night and bludgeon them to death with an angry mob. They seem to forget this was the deal for people to stop doing that.

Bejarana then defended the removal, accusing protesters of attempting to “filibuster” the event as he continued talking about DOGE. “We’ve got to be a little aggressive with some of these folks here,” he said. “Your voice is meaningless right now.…I can talk over all of you.”

Newsweek has reached out to Bejarana via for comment on Sunday.

The confrontational approach drew criticism from many in attendance. “Is this a town hall or a lecture?” one woman yelled amid the uproar, according to Coeur d’Alene Press.

While it’s unclear what exactly the protesters were opposing, KCRCC has since posted a statement to Facebook explaining that Borrenpohl, who allegedly belongs to Save NIC, a social welfare nonprofit organization, “alongside at least five other recognized activists from local progressive circles—including two fellow ‘Save NIC’ members—shouted down legislators with insults like ‘bigots’ and ‘liars’ throughout the meeting, drowning out attempts at dialogue.”

    “attempts at dialogue”. Right.

“See, in the good old days this doesn’t happen, because they used to treat them very, very rough. And when they protested once, you know, they would not do it again so easily. But today they walk in and they put their hand up and they put the wrong finger in the air at everybody and they get away with murder because we’ve become weak, we’ve become weak." - Trump

I’ve voted neoliberal in every general after fighting for democratic socialists in primaries, hating myself as I did, a vote for quiet slaughter over loud, braggadocious slaughter, not peace, my entire life.

After a lot, lot, lot, lot O pain, turns out the accelerationists might be right. Giving the capitalists/fascists a long enough rope to force hot revolution might be the only possible path to a society and not the murder for profit exploitation camp we’ve all been living under. Neoliberals just let the frog of capitalist cruelty simmer as capitalists murder us for profit and our neighbors die in homeless tent cities through no fault of their own, but you know, with affirmation ribbons instead of scapegoating. They support your right to love who you love and be who you are… in a cardboard box under a freeway as you die of exposure, sorry, market forces fam 🤷

I just hope when the revolution starts, Americans remember their enemy largely isn’t in DC, those are middle managers with the exception of Trump and his cabinet who’ve cut out the well bribed middleman in the executive branch, they’re on Wall Street, in guard gated communities and towers, on golf courses, and in mega yacht supporting ports.

As in all of civilization’s history, one need only identify those holding the largest bags of cash asset portfolios as a result of all the carnage to know who is most responsible.
