Okay. My computer poll is starting to make more sense. Unsurprisingly, the undefeated teams are at the top regardless of their SOS. Since it is an ELO-based algorithm, winning is the only way to gain a meaningful* amount of ratings points. Hence, why there are some outliers like North Texas. But they will likely be eclipsed by as other teams play higher rated opponents. On the other hand, they are in the American, which has shown itself to be the best Group of 6 conference (and right up there with the ACC according to my poll).
*There is some margin of victory components, so it is possible for an underdog to gain points with a close loss, but that isn’t common and won’t get you that many points
