a New York Times/Siena College poll of registered voters on Friday found that Trump’s approval rating is 42%, and just 29% among independent voters. More than half of voters said Trump is “exceeding the powers available to him”, and 59% of respondents said the president’s second term has been “scary”

Despite any misgivings republicans might say for a poll, had they asked if they would rather have a democrat in office, the pool would be 90% plus in favor of Trump. It’s simply the way they ask the questions.

These people can try to pretend they are hemming and hawing over these things, but as long as it is their guy doing it, they are ok with it.

Trump is killing people and kids and the best they can do is say they don’t think he is focusing on the right things and these surveys are somehow supposed to show how badly he is doing. These people don’t give a shit and are complicit. They think they are absolved by not approving.

      It’s all bullshit.

Main problem with the biggest nations is that they are ruled by old men that know they are going to die soon anyway.

China, Russia, US all have old leaders who try to write their name in history books by any means necessary. They do not fear death, since they know it’s not far whatever they do.

In most countries nations have a lower limit of age that a leader must be, they also should have an upper limit.

It’s not just Trump. Trump could die tomorrow and nothing would change because American billionaires still want to see the collapse of the west so they can mould it into their vision of techo-feudalism.

Trump dying would just mean JD Vance gets in and he would carry on with the same goal but with slightly more coherence. The USA needs to be torn down and rebuilt from the ground up

Nah, MAGA is a cult of personality, and when he dies, MAGA will inevitably die, too. They’ll try to keep it alive, but the loyalty was 100% to Trump, and there is no viable second choice, no matter how much they delude themselves that they will be the chosen successor.

When HitlerPig assumes room temperature, the knives will come out, and Vance, Jr, Stephen “PeeWee Himmler” Miller, Steve "Unwiped Asshole"Bannon, Josh “Running Man” Hawley, Chuck “Get Off My” Grassley, Marjorie “Battletoad” Greene, and a thousand others will compete in a Battle Royale that will be fun to watch.

          No.

The hate was always there, the racism is marrow deep for most of them.

When they say ‘Make America Great Again’, they mean 2 eras:

          1. The 1950s when women and Browns knew their placd

          2. The 1850s, when they were originally taught their place.

I’m not saying Racism will die with HitlerPig, but MAGA will.

There was a time when the KKK was a major political force in America, and they eventually decreased in influence, and went underground. The only difference is that MAGA has become the ruling political philosophy of the nation, something that the KKK never achieved, and we should endeavor to completely purge it from society. The activist racists are going to have to start all over, and find a new vehicle for their hate.

Most people dont understand how many leaders have been assassinated by people from their own side. When fanatics become disenchanted with their hero’s fallibilities, they often turn just as fanatical against them. Then there are those that were drawn to the fame and power, and somehow think that will transfer to them.

It’s not like this is unexpected for anyone with any sort of decent long term memory. He was a giant fuck up his first time around as well. And before that has tanked nearly every business he has been in charge of. To the point that they couldn’t survive without regular cash infusions from shady eastern European money men.

All these ‘it’s dropping!’ articles are just bullshit. It’s been in the 42-46% pretty much since he took office.

I think this is just rhetoric aimed at the left. ‘See, his popularity is fading! No need to worry and definitely no need to do anything about him!’

Kinda like the right gets ‘See, everyone loves him; he won on the popular vote and now he’s doing all the things you wanted him to! Remember to support him unconditionally!’

It reminds me of the spate of articles 8 years ago about this; how headlines made mountains out of molehill changes in stats.

The fact is, about of a third of Americans would be pleased with orange-face no matter what he did or who got hurt.

All these leopard-eating-faces articles are just modern day morality plays ( the performance of drama about how the wicked or sinners get their justice, or tearfully beg for forgiveness). People been enjoying this even before the printing press

My grocery store started selling us flags for cheap - $1 a flag++ (probably the cheapest thing they have). The amount of us flags in my area has increased. New people are putting them up. I’ve been paying attention to who has flags up. Only 2 neighbors removed them, 1 neighbor finally removed his trump flag and exchanged it for the us flag, 1 neighbor has us flag above Trump flag. What’s kind of funny is that some of the houses are smaller than the flags they have up.

As if his handling of COVID wasn’t a clear indication about who he really fought for. That whole thing was a total layup for his administration, and he absolutely fucked it at every conceivable opportunity. He made it political and caused who knows how many people to die because he had to be completely contradictory to the experts in the field whenever possible.

Absolutely mind boggling that people would give him the keys again. And that’s ignoring the mountain of other inconceivable shit he went out of his way to engage in. You remember, firing investigators investigating him, the felonies, the insurrection, the rape, blackmailing Ukraine to make false investigations against a political opponent, the unforced Russian propaganda, the profiting of hosting at his properties, the lies about Haitians, the pussy grabbing thing, the constant bullshit, the hiring fucking dolts, the crypto laundering, lying about the election, lying about nearly goddamned everything, the …

It’s a problem of propaganda. All the mass media is owned by a few wealthy interests. A lot of people only get information from mass media. Media which regularly gave a seditious tractor like trump undue respect and deference for fear of 'losing access". When they don’t treat him with the disdain and animosity he rightly deserves. People question whether what he did was actually that unusual or even bad.

Yes they saw what happened January 6th, but most of the media doesn’t even bother to mention it much now. So it must not have been that big of a deal right? All a bunch of overblown hyperbole and bluster like Republicans accusations against Democrats. So they just “both sides” it all. Handwaving it away, thinking themselves above it and superior. Only bothering to latch on to talking points they like. Which only makes things worse seeing how bad Democrats are at playing the media compared to republicans.
