The order came at the request of Attorney General Ken Paxton, who O’Rourke accused in a separate lawsuit of going on a “fishing expedition, constitutional rights be damned.”

Ok its a temporary injunction, oh well.

Any money that’s outside the state of Texas already would have encumbrance I don’t think.

Not to mention I’d be willing to bet the out of state contributions not affiliated with these orgs/people are far, FAR more supportive. The Illinois Governor is a billionaire.

Tarrant County District Judge Megan Fahey granted Paxton’s request for a temporary injunction, barring O’Rourke and Powered by People from fundraising for the Democrats or spending money to cover their expenses. The order came less than four hours after Paxton’s office filed the petition.

The First Amendment no longer exists.

Money is speech when it’s billionaires funding PACs. You just need at least 100 million dollars to have full citizenship in this country.

“Capitalism” has it in the name. It’s all about money and it doesn’t matter how you got it, only that you have it now, and the core of the system is the naive belief that those with the most money are also the best people.

You need to spend 100 million. And that’s a threat of the weight of the billions behind it. Anyone thinking they can scrape small donations together to fight on their turf is bonkers.

So do it anyway? There are no laws anymore anyway. Thats how the Republicans are acting…why would you just follow the law knowing they’re already breaking the law.

You can’t try to play chess when the other team is playing rugby…

These fascists are doing they’re thing

They control the courts and the legal system

The answer doesn’t seem to be “let’s play this out”

    Unless you want fascism

You have GOT to do the same shit the president would do, fight fire with equal fire, give them a taste of their own medicine

  • Meh… this is technically the right thing to do. First, it only applies in Texas. Second, right or wrong, it seems leaving thier posts when ordered back is “technically” illegal, again, only in texas for them. Paying someone to break the law is usually illegal. I am only a little fuzzy of if there is a real texas law about them needing to come back when ordered. It’s been hard to tell if that is a law or a “rule” of the state congress.

      • I’m not sure it actually is. No law against it. It’s a huge flaw in the system that the people elected also decide how the election works.

When the stakes are high, attempting to push every line is expected. Some say “if you aren’t cheating, are you even trying?”

This system will simply never be fair. It needs to be replaced.

Read a bit about it, I think you’re right. We redistrict every 10 years based on censuses, but states do redistrict between those decades. Seems slimy as fuck, and i agreed, it needs to be replaced.
